Yes! At MAAIKE we are particularly focused on chairs, and delight in the design and production of solutions. We create upholstered pieces and installations that fit your home, pieces that meet your comfort expectations and your uses.
What we don’t do is copy something you found in Pinterest or in a magazine. We take your inspiration on board and create something unique.
Yes! We work closely with aVOCa Bricolage to produce bespoke designs you won’t find anywhere else. aVOCa Bricolage use salvaged timber and found ephemera to create one-off cabinets of curiosity, celebrating the character and patina of time, in a style that is timeless.

Re-upholstery is likely to cost more than you spent in a second hand store or a taxi home with a kerbside find. The process is not just one that changes the appearance. The process removes the worthless and worn, and replaces it with comfortable, quality materials and techniques which add value and life to your piece. If you love it, we think it’s worth it.
Re-upholstery by MAAIKE is an investment in the future longevity of your favourite chair, your family heirloom or your Mid Century Modern and Danish furniture. It is an opportunity to create something that suits your personal home and style. The opportunity to link your favourite chair to a painting across the room, or a memory in time, makes it priceless.
If you’re looking to re-invigorate furniture bought from large chains from 1980s onwards, in the same fabric or plain leather, you will find it more economical to buy ‘new’.
We delight in producing pieces that can not be bought ‘new’ through chain stores. MAAIKE focuses on quality and construction, and our pricing allows for this. We are perfectly positioned to breathe life into mid century modern and 60s pop furniture, or to turn your heirloom chair into a piece of art.
MAAIKE designs and produces upholstered furniture in Sydney, and does not compete with mass producers or chain stores on price or product. If you are looking to compare apples and oranges we recommend our neighbour, Fruit Man Sam
If you’re interested in creating something you haven’t found elsewhere, we’d love to help make it a reality. Costs are project specific, in order to give you an idea, you'll need to give us some info. All we need is a few details and a photo of your piece. If you have 5 minutes and a photo you can fill out our simple Commission form right now.
No. MAAIKE produces contemporary upholstery designs on new or pre-existing furniture frames. For antique timber restorations please visit Benchmark Restorations.
MAAIKE provides a holistic Design service, overhauling entire pieces from concept to completion. We don’t carry out minor repairs, nor do we refinish timber.
Can you recommend someone who will do my small timber repairs?
No, but I find spending some time with Senior Google usually has good results.
MAAIKE has an enviable, in-house collection of vintage, designer remnant and pre loved textiles you’re unlikely to find anywhere else.
We have access to the cream of the crop when it comes to Mid Century Modern Furniture. When reviving in Mid Century Modern style, colour palette and texture are key to getting it right. We know the best of the best across the globe, from economic poly blends to Dutch felts and pure Australian made wools, all in fantastic textures from boucles to velvets.
MAAIKE also keeps an eye on the up and coming Australian surface designers, being keen on local talent, hand screen printers, natural fabrics, low VOC inks and bold statements.
If we can’t find it, we can design and print it through our networks. MAAIKE can produce and print digital fabrics and/or liaise with specialists to create hand screen printed designs.
MAAIKE is open to working with clients keen to bring their own quality upholstery grade fabrics to the project. If you’re not familiar with fabrics and Sydney suppliers it can be simpler for MAAIKE to source and supply fabric to your specifications.
