So I’ve been notaby absent. Notably hectic… It’s all about to change. 2012 so far has thrown up a multitude of opportunities and obstacles that have (among other things) helped me clarify – My life, my priorities and my passion.
So I quit my job. I had to get another one, which is sad, but also exciting, as it’s a step in a very rewarding direction (sustainable education).
Then I quit the gallery. He Made She Made has become an all consuming venture with many rewards, but ultimately was heading in a non furniture making direction. I wrap up my time with HMSM in mid June. Again, this is sad, but also exciting, as my tools and my blanks and myself will be in the same space at the same time more often now.
I’ve got some plans for whim pieces up my sleeve – fused pieces, hybrid pieces, almost entirely rebuilt pieces, and Ivy Blue – the first and last 3 Seater Couch my car ever carried.
Ivy’s going to end up like some mothballed love child of Frida Kahlo and Ms. Havisham on shredded embroidery crack. It’s inspired by the scabby frayed love she’s is currently sporting on her elbows (left) and the frayed, torn, bleached necklace I made for a friend’s wedding (right)
And it’s all happeing, just as soon as I weather proof my back porch!
